Titanium Forging

Titanium Forging

Short Description:

Forged titanium is often used due its strength and corrosion resistance, as well as being the most bio-compatible of all metals. From the mined titanium minerals, 95% is used to manufacture titanium dioxide, which is a pigment used in paints, plastics and cosmetics.  Of the remaining minerals, only 5% is refined further into titanium metal. Titanium has the highest strength to density ratio of any metallic element; and its strength provides excellent durability and resistance to corrosion.Oft...

Titanium has the highest strength to density ratio of any metallic element; and its strength provides excellent durability and resistance to corrosion.Often, forged titanium part requests do not follow common standards but are made to fit customer requirements.

Example Applications

Forged bar/shaft, forged disc, forged sleeve/ring, Forged block

In the application of various titanium material products, forgings are mostly used for gas turbine compressor discs and medical artificial bones that require high strength, toughness and reliability. Therefore, titanium forgings not only require high dimensional accuracy, but also require excellent performance and high stability. Therefore, in the manufacturing process of titanium forgings, the characteristics of titanium alloys must be fully utilized in order to obtain high-quality forgings. Titanium material is a harder forged material that is prone to cracks. Therefore, the most important thing in the production of titanium forgings is to properly control the forging temperature and plastic deformation.

Application areas of titanium alloy forgings:

Aerospace

50% of the titanium material in the world is used in the aerospace field. 30% of the body of military aircraft uses titanium alloys, and the amount of titanium in civil aircraft is also gradually increasing. In aerospace, titanium alloy forgings are used in fuel tanks for rocket and satellite propulsion engines, attitude control engine housings, vanes for liquid fuel turbo pumps and inlet sections for suction pumps.

Turbine blades for power generation

Increasing the blade length of thermal power turbines is an effective measure to improve power generation efficiency, but lengthening the blades will increase the rotor load.
